We run two-person climb teams with full safety briefings before every job. New hires shadow a lead climber for their first two weeks regardless of experience level. We pay for continuing education, cover ISA exam fees, and promote from within — Derek, our lead climber, started as a ground hand.
Experienced Tree Climber / Arborist
Full-time · Columbus, OH
We're looking for a climber with at least two seasons of aerial tree work experience using proper rigging techniques. ISA certification is a plus but not required — we'll support you through the exam. You'll be paired with Derek on complex residential and commercial removals, restoration prunes, and emergency callouts. Must be comfortable working within 5 feet of structures and power lines under supervision. Valid driver's license required. $28–$38/hr depending on experience.
Ground Crew / Groundsperson
Full-time · Columbus, OH
The ground crew is the backbone of every Cedar & Oak job — you'll be managing drop zones, feeding the chipper, hauling brush, and keeping the work area safe and clean. No formal climbing experience required, but you should be comfortable with physical outdoor work in all weather and able to follow rigging signals from the climber. This is a real career-track position; we promote climbers from the ground crew. $20–$26/hr starting, reviewed at 90 days.
